Giorgio Merli

He completed his musical studies at the Pontifical Ambrosian Institute of Sacred Music in Milan where, in 1990, he obtained his Magisterium in Gregorian Chant under the guidance of L. Agustoni and F. Rampi. He has been a soloist of the Cantori Gregoriani ensemble since its foundation and has numerous concert and recording collaborations with organists and early music groups. He has conducted the Gregorian choir of the Basilica of San Marco in Milan and the Cantores Sancti Benedicti group of the Benedictine Abbey of Seregno. 

He has taught at the Trieste Conservatory, at the Diocesan Institute of Sacred Music in Modena and at the Zelioli Civic School of Music in Lecco. Moreover, he has participated in every educational and outreach activity of the Cantori Gregoriani ensemble and, from 2017 (Year III), he has held classes in a variety of topics at the School of Gregorian Chant under the patronage of Accademia Corale Teleion and in collaboration with the Cantori Gregoriani ensemble.

He is full professor of Gregorian Chant at the Pontifical Ambrosian Institute of Sacred Music in Milan (PIAMS). 

He teaches at the School of Gregorian Chant organized by AERCO Academy, and at the training course for musical animators of the Liturgy "Te laudamus", promoted by the Archbishop's Curia of Milan.
